Professor Itamar Raz, president of Israel's National Council for Diabetes, presents the digital approach to treat diabetes and other chronic diseases.
Digital therapy will close the gap in the treatment of the epidemic of diabetes and other chronic diseases. There are too many patients and too few doctors to cope in any other way. No doctor is able to accurately analyze the complete record of each patient from one appointment to the next to achieve the correct goal and treatment plan.
By incorporating patient data into digital systems, doctors can better define the objective for each individual patient, based on the large data enabled by these systems. A digitized health system can analyze the daily data of a patient, provide treatment recommendations and monitor the treatment of each patient. The patient's mobile phone is a direct prescription tool, which allows medical professionals to treat their patients at home, respond to the patient's needs at the right time, receive alerts about patients that require modified treatment and call patients for personal appointments
Professor Itamar Raz is president of the National Diabetes Council of Israel and leads global diabetes studies of renal and cardiovascular outcomes. It publishes prominent international journals oriented to diabetes and has more than 310 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
This panel was recorded in MEDINISRAEL 2017.
