It is important to have some body fat in the body, but all types of fat do not create the same when it comes to function. Visceral fat is a type of body fat stored inside the abdominal cavity. It is found near several vital organs, such as the liver, stomach and intestines. It can also accumulate in the arteries. Occasionally, visceral fat is called "active fat" because it can actively increase the risk of serious health problems, such as diabetes.
If you have some fat around your belly, it is not necessarily visceral fat. The belly fat you're referring to can also be subcutaneous fat that is stored just under your skin. Subcutaneous fat is also found in other parts of the body and can be easily seen. Visceral fat remains inside the abdominal cavity and is not easily visible.
What exactly causes visceral fat?
Some of the causes behind visceral fat are a poor choice of food, a diet rich in carbohydrates, inflammation and chronic stress.
How to lose visceral fat in 2019?
Number 1: Follow a diet high in fat and low in carbohydrates
Yes, heart, right. This type of diet is also known as a ketogenic diet and is one of the best ways to eliminate visceral fat. Basically, consume foods rich in healthy fats, moderate in protein and low in carbohydrates. A ketogenic diet trains your body to burn fat as a fuel instead of carbohydrates. Meanwhile, create ketones to deal with hunger and feed your brain. This whole process is called ketosis. If you are not a person who exercises, this is the best way to get rid of visceral fat.
Number 2: intermittent fasting
Several studies have shown the lasting benefits of intermittent fasting. Basically, in this form of fasting, you eat only during the hours of eating at the window and eat nothing during the fasting hours. In general, people follow the 16: 8 rule where they will not eat anything for 16 hours and eat for 8 hours afterwards.
Intermittent fasting has enormous benefits for your body and mind, including reducing visceral fat and increasing adiponectin levels to restore insulin sensitivity.
It is so powerful that in only 6 to 24 weeks, people who follow the intermittent fasting diet lost 4 to 7% of their visceral fat.
Number 3: HIIT workouts
HIIT, which is high intensity interval training, is a perfect balance between aerobic training and endurance. It gives you a lot of fat fusion benefits in a short period of time.
HIIT training cycles between bursts of intense total effort and periods of rapid recovery, usually active. This type of exercise not only burns fat and creates muscle faster than traditional workouts, but also improves insulin sensitivity and increases resting metabolism, which helps keep your body in a fat burning state for more time
